Description
Saving Schmiddy is a juvenile non-fiction picture book, the first in a series of Life with Animals adventures.
A caring boy recounts the uncommon rescue of an injured speckled kingsnake. During the rehabilitation process, his fearful mom learns to value and appreciate all snakes. The family dog follows Schmiddy’s progress throughout the book with over 40 pages of whimsical artwork.
In addition to the true story of the snake’s rescue, Saving Schmiddy includes information boxes about snake behavior and physiology as well as the special calling of wildlife rehabilitation.
A short section entitled “More About Snakes” at the back of the book offers additional fun facts about snakes worldwide, speckled kings in America, venomous snakes, and snakes as pets.
